Basic Gameplay

The Goal

The goal in Lofty Kingdom is to build up your kingdom and get things back on track. You do this by purchasing buildings using both Coins and Radiance. By playing the game you'll gain XP as well. Once you get enough, you'll level up and get access to new buildings including story buildings that advance the plot.

Purchasing

You can buy buildings from the store, accessed through the button in the top right of your screen. There are multiple tabs in the store, so make sure to check them all out and come back when you level. Buildings purchased appear in your inventory.

Moving Buildings

You can move a building by tapping and holding on it. At this point you can drag it around to other places on the island, or into your inventory.

Moving the Camera

You can pan your view with one finger, zoom with two fingers pinching, or rotate your view by rotating two fingers on the screen.

Opening Buildings

If you tap a building while it is placed, it will open that building's UI, allowing you to interaact with it. If you instead tap a building in your inventory, you can read its description and stats.

Production Line

Production Line buildings require you to pick an amount of Insight to invest by selecting a number from the bottom row. You can then confirm that number by tapping it in the socket in the middle. After its Interval Time, the building will enter timeout, and you will have to repeat the process selecting the same amount (you will not be charged again). Once you have done this a number of times equal to the repititions, the building enters production.

Memory Rune

To begin a Memory Rune Activity, start by selecting the 'activate' button. At this point, you pay the Insight cost and will be presented with a single Rune to remember. After its Interval Time, the building will enter timeout, and you will have to remember the Rune you selected (the UI is the same as Production Line, but with runes). Once you have done this a number of times equal to the repititions, the building enters production.

Terminology

Ability

A unique feature tied to a specific building (see Abilities/Strategy for more on Abilities).

Activated

A building is Activated when its Production begins.

Activity

The Memory Rune or Production Line required to Upkeep a building.

Activity Reward

The Coins/XP reward given each time an Activity is Upkept.

Memory Rune

One of the two Activity types. Must remember a given Rune.

Production

After a building is Activated, it enters Production for a time.

Production Line

One of the two Activity types. Must remember a chosen number.

Production Reward

The Coins/Insight rewarded at the end of a production period.

Repetitions

The number of times a building must be Upkept to be Activated.

Timeout

Buildings enter timeout while they are waiting to be Upkept. If they are not Upkept before their Timeout time completes, then the Activity is failed and must be restarted.

Upkeep

Once an Activity is initiated, you must Upkeep the Activity a number of times equal to its Repetitions in order to Activate it, sending it into Production.

Currency

Coins

Coins are the standard currency used to purchase buildings. They are gained through Upkeeping buildings and letting them finish their Production period.

Radiance

Radiance is gained through leveling up, or can be bought in the store. It is used to skip timers, and can be spent on Radiance Buildings, which can be found in their own tab of the store.

Insight

Insight is used for Activating buildings. When you begin an Activity, you will either need to pay a set amount of Insight, or pick an amount to Invest from an array of choices. Insight is gained at the end of Production, meaning Activating buildings will typically gain you Insight, so long as you don't fail their Activity.

XP

XP is gained through Upkeeping buildings. Once you get enough XP, you'll level up! Each level takes more XP than the last. When you level up, you'll gain access to new buildings, along with an amount of Radiance based on your level. The maximum achievable level is 10.

Story

The King has placed you in charge of managing the kingdom, which is on the brink of an economic disaster. This is normally a job handled by his daughter, but she has mysteriously gone missing!

In the meantime though, there are plenty of challenges ahead of you, with a kingdom to get up and running and unseasonable weather that has to make you wonder.

Following the Story

Lofty Kingdom's story is told through a series of Story Buildings scattered across the levels. The Story Buildings provide financial rewards as you complete tasks, grant unique Abilities, grant access to unique Themes that restyle your game, and provide a highly reactive story that is heavily influenced by your decisions.

Abilities/Strategy

The Basics

Some buildings have Abilities, which give a sort of "Power Up" to nearby buildings. These abilities generally aid buildings which are within a number of tiles of the building with the Ability. You can tell when something's being affected, as when buildings are Placed/Moved affecting buildings will first flash, and then affected buildings will flash. This can help you gauge areas and what's working. Most Abilities only work at certain times, such as during Production or when Upkept.

A Little Strategy

Properly using your building's abilities can be a big help. Carefully read the Abilities, and place your buildings accordingly. Since most buildings Abilities only activate at certain times, you can move buildings around as needed to benefit from as many of your buildings as possible and maximize your proffits (such as moving a building out of its key position once you've used its on Upkeep Ability to boost the other buildings with a building that's in Production and passively aiding neighboring buildings).
